Sri Lanka are set to turn to either Niroshan Dickwella or uncapped Anjala Bandara for the wicketkeeper’s role in the upcoming Test against India, with Kusal Mendis sidelined by injury.
Both Dickwella and Bandara are currently in Galle training with the Sri Lanka squad ahead of the Test series, NewsWire learns.
With Mendis unavailable, one of the two is expected to be selected as wicketkeeper. Dickwella, who has significant international experience, last played a Test for Sri Lanka in 2023, while Bandara is yet to make his Test debut.
Fast bowler Lahiru Kumara has also been named in the provisional squad, subject to fitness.
Young spinner Keshara Nuwantha is another player among those called up and is currently training with the squad in Galle.
Sri Lanka’s squad for the Test series has not yet been officially announced, with the final combination expected to depend partly on the fitness of several players. (Newswire)
