High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to India, Mahishini Colonne, has invited Indian business leaders, investors and buyers to take part in the upcoming Sri Lanka Expo 2027, emphasising the growth potential for bilateral economic partnerships.
Addressing the Conference on “Business Opportunities in BIMSTEC Countries” in New Delhi on October 5, High Commissioner Colonne pointed to Sri Lanka’s strategic geographic location, robust connectivity and long standing economic ties with India. She underscored opportunities for deeper collaboration across multiple sectors, including trade, investment, ports and logistics, manufacturing, tourism, renewable energy and digital services.
The conference, organised by the Millennial India International Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (MIICCIA) at the India International Centre, convened senior diplomats from the seven BIMSTEC member states, Ministry of External Affairs officials and roughly 80 representatives from Indian trade and industry.
Key figures addressing the event included Ambassador Rudrendra Tandon, Secretary (East) of India’s Ministry of External Affairs; Ambassador Anil Trigunayat, President of MIICCIA; and BIMSTEC Secretary-General Ambassador Indra Mani Pandey, who delivered a video message advocating for stronger business-to-business and private-sector engagement.
Concluding her address, the High Commissioner formally invited the regional business community to Sri Lanka Expo 2027, the nation’s premier international trade exhibition. The event is scheduled to take place in Colombo from 14 to 17 January 2027, bringing together local exporters, global buyers and industry leaders to foster new commercial partnerships. (Newswire)
