Sri Lanka hopes to vaccinate all population aged above 18 by November

The vaccination of all citizens over the age of 30 is scheduled to be completed by mid-September, the minister said.

Minister Rambukwella made this observation during a discussion held with the Cuban Ambassador to Sri Lanka Andres Marcelo this morning (26) at the Health Ministry.

The Minister of Health told the Cuban Ambassador that the government will also pay attention to a third vaccine after vaccinating all vaccine-eligible persons with both doses.

The Minister requested the Ambassador to provide an opportunity for an exchange program to share the experience, knowledge, and technology of the world-class Cuban Health service.

Cuban Ambassador Andreas Marcelo said he hoped that all Cuban citizens will be fully vaccinated by the end of this year.

The Ambassador also pointed out that medical equipment and health services provide a high exchange rate among the country’s foreign exchange. Meanwhile, the Minister and the Ambassador said that vaccination alone cannot prevent the global catastrophe and that it is essential to adhere to proper health guidelines.

Secretary to the Ministry of Health Maj. Gen. Dr. Sanjeewa Munasinghe, was also present on the occasion.
