The Central Asia Men’s Volleyball Cup saw the host country and the defending Champions outplayed Saudi Arabia in straight sets yesterday at the Sugathadasa Indoor stadium. This match was the second match of the day.
Sri Lanka won the first set at 25 – 16, second set at 25 -17, but the Saudis came back strongly in the third set giving a grand fight through out the game. Twice the visitors were able to come to equal terms when the score was at 9-9 and 24 all.
However the Lankan skipper with fine serves never allowed their opponents to take advantage which was the main cause for the defeat for the Saudis. The set ended with score reading at 26-24 in favour of the host country the defending Champions 3-0.
Afghanistan beat Uzbekistan
CAVA Men’s Volleyball Challenge Cup Colombo 2023 where Afghanistan made 3-2 win over Uzbekistan with the score reading 3-2 as (25-17, 26-24, 26-28, 22-25 and 15-13. The Central Asia Men’s Challenge Cup 2023 will come to close on Monday October 15, with the rest day declared as October 12.
