Sri Lanka’s Kajan Ajesh in action

Sri Lanka enjoyed a splendid opening day as three of their players moved into the second round of the Boys’ Under-14 Singles in the ATF Series-1 Tennis Tournament, which began at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association Courts (SLTA) in Green Path, Colombo yesterday.

Kajan Ajesh, Andrew Kaavinda and Kubherane Mayoor made early inroads as the Sri Lankan trio got their campaign underway to a winning start in this junior tournament, conducted by the Asian Tennis Federation and hosted by the SLTA.

Ajesh cruised to a convincing straight set win over Rakeen Raham of Bangladesh, but Kaavinda and Mayoor had tough first-round games as they struggled to beat their opponents M. Dhanush (India) and Him Wong (Hong Kong) respectively.
