Sri Lanka Shippers’ Council conducted its 53rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Kingsbury Hotel on July 6. Niraj De Mel, Chairman of Sri Lanka Tea Board, was the Chief Guest.
MAS Holdings Director Logistics Sean Van Dort was elected as the Chairman, while Trisherman Frink General Manager, Shipping and Customer Service, Lalan Rubbers (Pvt) Ltd and Tyronne Weckasinghe Managing Director, Flintech Transducers (Pvt) Ltd appointed as 1st Vice Chairman and 2nd Vice Chairman respectively. Russell Juriansz Head of Logistics, Martin Bauer Hayleys (Private) Limited will serve the committee as the Immediate Past Chairman.
The Sri Lanka Shippers’ Council has throughout a rich history of over 50 years effectively represented the interests of the shipping industry in Sri Lanka. Established in 1966 as the first National Shippers’ Council, now comprises seventeen product member associations and over 50 individual members representing almost all industries engaged in international trade, making it one of the most vibrant industry councils in the country.
