Sri Lanka suffer second heavy defeat to England Lions ahead of T20I series

Sri Lanka suffered a second successive heavy defeat to England Lions, losing by nine wickets under the DLS method in their second T20 warm-up match at Beckenham on Sunday.

Batting first, Sri Lanka posted 156/9 from their 20 overs. England Lions were then set a revised target of 73 from eight overs following a rain interruption and raced to 76/1 in 6.2 overs to complete a comfortable victory with 10 balls remaining.

Kamil Mishara made 31 off 18 deliveries, including four fours and two sixes, while Pathum Nissanka scored 23 from 16 balls.

The defeat completed a difficult two-match preparation series for Sri Lanka. England Lions had also won the opening T20 by nine wickets after dismissing Sri Lanka for 117 in 16.4 overs.

The results come just before Sri Lanka begin their three-match T20I series against England. The opening match will be played in Southampton on September 15, followed by matches in Cardiff on September 17 and Manchester on September 19. (Newswire)
