Sri Lanka and Thailand are set to sign an agreement on the employment of Sri Lankan workers in Thailand during Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath’s official visit to the country from Sept. 14 to 16.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism said Herath will undertake the visit at the invitation of Thailand’s Labour Minister.
During the visit, the two countries will sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Labour Cooperation and a Memorandum of Agreement on the Employment of Sri Lankan Workers in Thailand.
Herath is also scheduled to hold discussions with Thailand’s Labour Minister, Tourism Minister and Acting Foreign Minister.
The discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including employment, migration, labour mobility and tourism.
The ministry said the visit is also expected to strengthen people-to-people links and enhance economic engagement between Sri Lanka and Thailand. (Newswire)
