The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka (NOC Sri Lanka) has officially presented Team Sri Lanka for the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, with a 156-member athlete contingent set to compete in Japan.
The contingent comprises 100 male and 56 female athletes who will represent Sri Lanka across 25 sports disciplines.
Team Sri Lanka will compete in swimming and diving, archery, artistic gymnastics, judo, rowing, rugby sevens, table tennis, squash, weightlifting, wrestling, 3×3 basketball, wushu, kabaddi, beach volleyball, athletics, boxing, karate, sailing, taekwondo, surfing, badminton, cricket, golf, modern pentathlon and hockey.
The team was officially presented at a press conference held at the Duncan White Auditorium at the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports on Sept. 9.
Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage, Ministry Secretary A.H.M.U. Aruna Bandara, Director General of Sports S. Achchuthan, NOC Sri Lanka President Asanga Seneviratne and Secretary General Rifdy Fahmy were among those present.
Group Captain Eranda Geeganage will serve as Chef de Mission, while Ashok Jeyakumar has been appointed Deputy Chef de Mission.
The officials will lead the wider management and support team responsible for the operational, administrative and athlete-support requirements of the Sri Lankan delegation during the Games. (Newswire)
