Sri Lanka will never forget Japan’s assistance in Debt Restructuring – Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana

Head of the Japanese delegation visiting Sri Lanka, Dr. Izumi Hiroto, recently met the Minister of Transport, Highways and Mass Media Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana at the Ministry of Transport and Highways.

With the successful completion of the Debt Restructuring (DR) process, the introduction of new technology to the Sri Lanka Television Corporation and its digitization, the commencement of the fourth section of the Expressway to Kandy, the Light Rail project and the resumption of operational projects with Japanese assistance, under the Ministry of Transport and Highways, were discussed.

In addition to this, the Digitization of the Transport service and the contribution of Japan to improve the Railway service were also discussed.

The Minister thanked the Japanese government for the support shown in the DR process, stating that Sri Lanka will never forget the support provided by Japan in the DR process.

Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Mizukoshi Hideaki, Japan Bank for International Cooperation President Maeda Tadashi, Deputy Head of Delegation Katsuki Kotaro and members of the Japanese delegation, Secretary to the Ministry of Transport and Highways, Engineer Ranjith Rubasinghe, Director General of Road Development Authority Priyantha Suriyabandara and SLTB Chairman Lalith de Alwis were also present.
