Sri Lankan Embassy issues safety advisory for nationals in Saudi Arabia

The Sri Lankan Embassy in Riyadh has issued a safety advisory urging Sri Lankan nationals in Saudi Arabia, particularly those residing in or travelling to Riyadh, to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel and follow instructions issued by Saudi Arabian authorities.

In a statement issued on Friday (Oct. 9), the Embassy advised Sri Lankans to remain indoors when necessary and exercise caution amid ongoing events in the country.

The Embassy also strongly urged Sri Lankan nationals to refrain from circulating or sharing videos, messages, news reports and social media posts relating to the ongoing situation.

It advised the public to rely only on information released through official and verified sources to avoid the spread of misinformation.

Meanwhile, the Embassy confirmed that both the Sri Lankan Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate General in Jeddah continue to function normally, with consular services remaining operational.

The diplomatic missions will issue further updates and safety advisories through their official communication channels when necessary.
