The Sri Lankan film Here After Bygone won the Special Jury Award in the competitive category, at the Shimla International Film Festival in India.
The two producers of the film arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport, from Mumbai, India, at noon yesterday (21).
This 93-minute documentary features only two actors, Dilhani Ekanayake and Sanjeewa Upendra, who travel 1,497 kilometres around Sri Lanka, recalling their memories from city to city.
The film has been presented at eight international film festivals and previously won the Best Experimental Film Award at the 2022 San Jose Film Festival in Costa Rica. Notably, the film has been produced by five producers, all of whom are Customs officers.
They were received on their return to Sri Lanka by the film’s director, M. Safir.
