Sri Lankan paddlers for Asian Table Tennis Tourney

According to the senior official of the Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka (TTASL) the paddlers who excelled at the two trials and the performance of their last few tournaments were considered to pick this squad and most probably all nine paddlers will take part at this event .

Ishara Madurangi the former National player is the most experienced in the four member women’s team while 15 year old Senura Silva who was unbeaten at the two trials conducted by TTASL recently with four other players are included in for men’s team . However TTASL so far not got the approval to the team for the Asian championship .The world leading TT players from China, Japan, Indonesia,Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia will take part It is going to be very tough for Sri Lankan players but the exposure is always very important at this level tournaments.

The pool players already commenced their residential training programme from Sepembert at Torrignton indoor stadium under the coach Chathura Dushan who is tipped to be the new National coach.

The tour will cost the TTASL approximately Rs. four million and the Sri Lanka Squad is scheduled to leave for Qatar on September 25.

The coach cum Manager Chathura Dushan and Delegate the President of the TTASL State Minister Kanaka Herath will accompany the team .

Men’s– Senura Silva, Chameera Ginige, Milinda Lakshitha, Nimesh Ranchagoda, Imantha Udayanjaya

Women’s– Ishara Madurangi, Bimandee Bandara, Muthumali Priyadharshani, Thanushi Rodrigo.
