The Sri Lankan Parliament is likely to debate the Gaza conflict on Friday October 20, 2023, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said today.
The Speaker who responded to a request by several MPs said party leaders will make the final decision on the matter today.
Venerable Athuraliye Rathana Thero, Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa and MP Udaya Gammanpila requested that the House take up a debate on the matter while the government should inform the House on the steps taken to minimize the effects that Sri Lanka could suffer as a result of the conflict.
