A Sri Lankan male employed in South Korea has died after being stabbed by a fellow Sri Lankan.
The murder had been reported on Sunday morning (3) and the victim has been identified as a 29-year-old resident of Pamunugama, it is reported.
The wife of the deceased said that her husband had been employed in Japan and had returned to Sri Lanka to look after his ill father and had left for South Korea in August this year to work as a Welder.
She said that her husband had resided in a shared house with two others in the Mokpo area in South Korea and that he had frequently told her of one individual who was staying with him constantly getting into arguments after consuming alcohol.
The deceased man’s wife also said that the employment agent had also been informed in this regard. She also mentioned that during their last phone conversation, her husband had informed her once again of the other Sri Lankan staying with him causing problems to him.
The victim’s wife revealed that her husband, who had been sleeping inside his room that night, had died after being stabbed on the chest by the other Sri Lankan staying with him.
The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) had been informed of the murder incident and had in turn informed the victim’s family, while the South Korean authorities have confirmed that the suspect has been taken into Police custody.
