Sri Lanka’s inflation increases to 5.4% in May 2026

The overall rate of inflation, as measured by the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI) year-on-year, has increased to 5.4 % in May 2026, according to the Department of Census and Statistics.

The department states that the figure is an increase compared to the 4.7% recorded in April 2026.

Food inflation has also increased to 1.5% in May from the 1.1% reported in the previous month.

Non-food inflation has also increased to 8.6% in May from the 7.8% recorded in April.
