SriLankan Airlines has issued a warning to passengers over fraudulent mobile applications impersonating the airline, urging the public to avoid downloading apps from unofficial sources.

In a public advisory, the national carrier warned passengers against downloading mobile applications through unofficial websites, social media links, messaging platforms or third-party app stores.

SriLankan Airlines clarified that it never requests customers to download mobile applications through links shared via WhatsApp, SMS, email or social media messages.

The airline further emphasised that it never requests One-Time Passwords (OTPs), banking PINs, credit card details or other financial information.

Passengers have been advised that the official SriLankan Airlines mobile application is available only through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

The airline also urged users to verify that the publisher is listed as SriLankan Airlines Limited before downloading or updating the application.

SriLankan Airlines stated that all official promotions, offers and digital services are available only through its official website, www.srilankan.com, mobile application and verified social media accounts.

Passengers who come across suspicious applications claiming to represent the airline have been advised not to install them or provide personal or payment information, and to report such applications immediately through the airline’s official channels. (Newswire)
