President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has announced that public sector salaries will increase again in January 2027, with the starting salary of a teacher rising to Rs. 65,000 and that of a doctor to Rs. 94,000.
Addressing a public rally in Nikaweratiya on Sunday (Oct. 11), the President said the government had already increased public sector salaries through its first budget and would implement another increase at the beginning of next year.
