The prison department has taken steps to provide the opportunity for visitors to meet Hindu religious inmates on Thai Pongal day (15).
The Prisons Commissioner (Intelligence and Operations) Prison Media Spokesman Gamini Dissanayake said that the relatives are allowed to bring food parcels and sweet which is sufficient only for one person.
Commissioner Dissanayake also said that it has been planned to provide food items and other things to the prisoners under the existing rules and regulations and proper health and safety methods.
