A 29 year old girl has been slit to death in Urubokka yesterday afternoon. She is a teacher attached to the Dampahala Maha Vidyalaya in Urubokka. The murder has taken place while the victim was returning from the school.
Police said a 33-year-old resident of Urubokka Dolamulla, who claims to be her boyfriend, had committed this heinous crime. After committing the crime, the suspect had climbed a tree at the place where the crime was committed.
He has tried to commit suicide by hanging himself.However the Urubokka police and the residents have brought him down from the tree. He was arrested by the police later. Police said that the suspect is 32 year old person and the two had been in a relationship for about 10 years. The young woman had been avoiding her boyfriend to stop the relationship for sometime. Police said that the murder has taken place as a result. Police said that he had been drinking alcohol with a friend. The suspect avoided his friend and committed the murder.
