Kurunegala Police said that two sixteen-year-old schoolgirls who had left home saying they were going to school and had come to Kurunegala city to meet their boyfriends, whom they had come to know through facebook, were taken into Police custody and handed over to their parents.
The two young students were found with their boyfriends during a search conducted by the officers of the Kurunegala Headquarters Police in the Kurunegala Lake area. It has been revealed in the interrogations that both of them had built a friendship with two boys aged 17 and 19 through Facebook and had come to Kurunegala to meet each other for the first time. Police found the school uniforms of the two students in their bags.
The young lovers who were taken into custody by the Police and given strict warnings and instructions, and were handed over to their parents, Police said.
