The Horana Police Headquarters said that they have launched an investigation into an incident in which a child who was flying kites had fallen ill after drinking an iced drink packet allegedly given to him by an unknown person.
The Police said that the 12-year-old child had been flying kites near a paddy field in the Hena area of Werella, Horana on Wednesday (23) evening when an unknown person on a motorcycle had given the child an open pack of iced drink.
The child had refused to take it and at that time the unknown person had forced it on the child and it is also learned that the iced drink packet had been opened at that time.
It was revealed that the child fainted after drinking it.
A Police officer said that the sick child is currently being treated in ward number six of the Horana Base Hospital.
A statement is to be obtained from the child.
Investigations are being conducted on the instructions of Horana Headquarters Police Acting Officer-In-Charge Inspector Pradeep Tharanga Wickramarachchi.
