Ten suspects including a drug trafficker who were arrested for allegedly gang raping a married woman infront of her husband, were ordered to be remanded till November 17 by Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawela yesterday.
Bloemendhal Police informed the Magistrate that the victim woman’s husband had obtained five grams of heroin from the said drug trafficker. Police further stated that the couple was abducted due to the fact that Rs.600,000 was not given to the smuggler.
It was revealed that the smuggler’s wife had recorded the incident on her mobile phone.
The gang rape was recorded by the suspect’s wife on her mobile phone and the husband and wife of the neighbouring house had also assisted in this abuse.The suspects were identified as Nipun Tharaka, Kasun Prabath, Malayappan Sri Kanthan, Sri Kantha Ariyappan, Jeewanathdedunu Abeynayake, Hettiarachchige Dulanjali,Wishwakumara Samudhi, Raju Gayathri, Edward Lakshman and Mohommed Niyas Mohommed Rilwan.
