Tensions arose at Viharamahadevi Park, where Buddhist monks are staging a satyagraha demanding a presidential pardon for Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero.
The situation arose after Cinnamon Gardens Police arrived at the site with a court order obtained from the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court directing the group to refrain from remaining at the premises.
Police later left the scene after reading out the court order, according to reporters at the site. (Newswire)
