Tharana de Silva excels for Sri Sumangala

The 69 th Big match between two leading Buddhist Schools in the island Moratu Vidyalaya and Sri Sumangala Vidyalaya Panadura ended in a tame draw at De Soysa Stadium Moratuwa. This match was confined to a One Day Game of 60 overs a side due to the prevailing situation in the country.

Taking the first lease Vidyalians were soon in trouble but anyhow they managed to score 133 runs with Vishwa Lahiru claiming 3 for 16 runs and in reply Sumangalians were 173 for 6 at the close with Tharana de Silva playing a solid captains innings of 50 runs.

Thanks to the two Principals U. B. Gunarathne of Moratu Vidyalaya and Lt. Col. L. G. P. D. Liyanagaskumbura for conducting the game according to the health regulations owing to Covid 19. The Chief Guest was former South Africa and Kenya High Commissioner H. G. Sunil de Silva and the Guest of honour was Chandana Mahesh Wickramasinghe of Moratu Vidyalaya and the two coaches were Prasanna Disanayake and Mr. Kelum. The man of the Match Award was carried away by the Captain of Sri Sumangala College Tharana de Silva.
