Thomians Class of 62-63 celebrate their 70th Birthday Bash in style

Handshakes, embraces, hugs and greetings of all sorts were galore when the class of 62-73 of the “school by the sea” gathered in their numbers to commemorate their 70th ‘Birthday Bash’ last Friday, at the Capri.

A record number of 74 members graced this felicitous and epoch-making event, amptly demonstrating beyond any possible doubt that their camaraderie and nexus still holds even after a half century of years or more gone by.

The memorable rendezvous was well represented by Thomians of all walks of life, ethnicities, races and creeds, ranging from globally celebrated Chartered Accountants, legal luminaries, medical professionals, those of the seafaring fraternity, renowned sportsmen et al, in solidarity and fellowship under one banner of their Alma Mater. Moreover, it also included not only those presently resident in Sri Lanka but also those who had migrated in the yesteryear in seek of greener pastures and domiciled in alien lands. Their presence, synergy and overall support had been overwhelming in making the celebrations a success.

This profoundly active and unique Thomian 62-73 Group has been of yeoman service to this prestigious school in many spheres. It has grown and blossomed into a well-knit team, where in addition to the provision of normal and regular fellowship facilities such as get-togethers and excursions to its membership, it has even taken a giant leap forward as a humanitarian gesture, to the extent of formulating a Benevolence Committee to befriend, care and assist their destitute mates in need, financially or otherwise.

May the good lord bless and keep us all in good health and happiness to celebrate our 80th Birthday Bash as well.

Esto Perpetua!
