The Minister made this statement in response to an oral question raised by Member of Parliament Chaminda Wijesiri during the Parliamentary session held yesterday (17).
Highlighting details of the scam, the Minister noted that it took place in 2021 and resulted in a loss of approximately Rs. 1.2 million to the Government. He further explained that a case related to this incident is currently being heard in the Welisara Court, and necessary legal action will be taken as soon as instructions are received from the Attorney General. Addressing concerns about possible political involvement, the Minister emphasised that investigations will proceed without any leniency, based on the facts presented in court, and that the perpetrators will be held accountable.
