A three-wheeler and a tipper truck collided yesterday (15) at the Dunagaha junction on the Negombo Mirigama road, causing the deaths of 3 persons said Divulapitiya Police.
One person sustained injuries and was admitted to the Negombo Hospital.
The accident occurred when the three-wheeler proceeding from Godigamuwa area to Dunagaha collided while entering the main road, with a tipper truck proceeding from Devulapitiya towards Negombo the police added.
The Police also said that four people were in the three-wheeler at the time of the accident, one person died on the spot and the other two died while being taken to hospital.
The Police said the tipper truck driver was arrested and brought to court.
Residents of Badalgama, Godigamuwa area faced the incident.
Diwulapitiya Police are conducting further investigations.
