Three Killed in Brutal Clash Linked to Long-Standing Dispute in Ambalantota

Ambalantota police report that three people were killed in a violent confrontation between two rival groups in the Alegoda West area last night (2) around 7:30 p.m.

According to initial investigations, a group of six individuals stormed a house in Mamadala, Alegoda West, and fatally attacked a resident along with two of his friends.

One victim died on the spot, while the other two succumbed to their injuries after being admitted to Ambalantota Hospital.

The victims have been identified as Hettiarachchige Prabath Indika (39), Hewakumanayake Rasika Priyadarshana (45), and Madawa Udayanga Mallikarachchi (34), all residents of the Alegoda and Mamadala areas.

Police confirmed that all three suffered severe cut wounds.

Investigators have identified the suspects and believe the murders stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the attackers and another group.

While preliminary findings suggest a connection to a conflict within the illegal liquor trade, authorities have yet to determine the exact motive.

Multiple police teams, including officers from Ambalantota and surrounding stations, have been deployed under the direction of the Tangalle Senior Superintendent of Police to track down and apprehend the perpetrators.
