Three people were killed in separate motorcycle accidents in Meegoda, Nochchiyagama and Wadduwa, Police said.
In Meegoda, a 54-year-old police constable attached to the Borella Police Station died after his motorcycle veered off the Godagama–Padukka Road in Liyanwala and crashed into a wall. The Homagama resident died while receiving treatment at the Homagama Hospital.
In Nochchiyagama, a 53-year-old motorcyclist died after losing control of his motorcycle on the Nochchiyagama–Kukulkatuwa Road and crashing into a culvert post. A pillion rider was also injured and admitted to hospital.
Meanwhile, a 26-year-old man from Waskaduwa was killed in an accident on the Colombo–Galle main road in Pothupitiya, Wadduwa. Police said his motorcycle collided with another motorcycle while attempting to overtake before crashing into an oncoming car.
Police in the respective areas are conducting further investigations. (Newswire)
