Three Provincial Road and Transport Authority officials removed

Southern Provincial Road Development Authority Chairman and Board Member Don Pathmalal Vithanachchi has been removed from his position. This decision was taken by Southern Province Governor Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena, who issued a gazette notification on August 26 announcing the removal.

Vithanachchi is a former member of the Southern Provincial Council representing the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP). Additionally, two former SLPP members of the Western Provincial Council, Upali Kodikara, who served as Chairman and Member of the Western Provincial Road Development Authority, and Prasanna Sanjeewa, Chairman and Member of the Western Provincial Passenger Transport Authority, were also removed from their positions.

This decision was taken by Western Province Governor Roshan Gunathilake, who issued a gazette notification recently.

The Western Province Governor cited the failure to properly execute the powers and duties of the respective authorities as the reason for the removal of Upali Kodikara and Prasanna Sanjeewa.

However, no specific reason was provided by the Southern Province Governor for the removal of Vithanachchi.
