A toddler in a house in Akuressa, Talahagama died after the cap of a bottle getting stuck in her throat.
The baby who died is just one year, Police said. At the time of the incident, the baby’s mother had been in the kitchen and the child was with her elder brother who is seven.
Seeing that the cap of a bottle being stuck in the mouth of his sister, the seven year old brother had tried to pull it out and after failing in his attempt had called for help.
The mother and father too had tried to remove the bottle cap, but they too had failed to do it and the girl had been taken to Kamburupitiya Base Hospital. She had been pronounced dead upon admittance.
