Negative travel advisories did not ditter tourists visiting Sri Lanka as by the end of October 2024, the island attracted a total of 1,620,715 arrivals.
Total tourist arrivals for October 2024, also passed the one hundred thousand mark (135,907) showing a 24.95% increase as against the 2023 October figure. It was also noteworthy to witness that the country maintained a 100,000 plus arrival mark each month of the year.
The top tourism market for Sri Lanka for October was India with 36,417 accounting to 26.8% arrivals while Russian Federation (10,367 with 7.6%) with new charter flights operating moved to the second spot beating United Kingdom (10,206) Germany (9,217) was fourth while China from fourth slipped to fifth.( 8,307).
