Trinity College 2022 – 23 cricket side has made Kandy proud by winning the under 19 division one Tier A One day tournament- . (2022-23) and the under 19 one Division one TierA two day tournament- Joint Champions. (2022/23) and were also picked the Provincial best team and their top bowler Dinuka Tennekoon who bowled left arm leg spin received the All Island best bowlers award.
The awards ceremony was held at BMICH It was Kandy’s top cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan who was the chief guest. Thanks to the players who gave their best to keep the game and helped them to emerge champions Rahal Amarasinghe- Captain, Vibhawith Ehalepola- Vice Captain, Kusal Wijethunga, Theeraka Ranatunga, Dinuka Tennekoon, Tharana Wimaladharma,Manula Kularatne, Dinusha Pieris, Supun Waduge, Janith Warnakula, Jayavi Liyanagama, Wathila Udara, Lakvin Abeysinghe, Malith Ratnayake, Kaveen Gamage,Kavindu Jayarathne, Viduka Dammage, Dimantha Mahavithana, Themiya Jayasundara,Yewan Hulangamuwa and Ometh Bandara.
The man who did a good job was head coach Naveen Ekanayake, who was well supported by Lakshitha Alahakoon-Assistant Coach, Bandula Pushpakumara- Trainer, Lasantha Herath Physiotherapist, Bryan Senaratne- MIC, Uththiya Wijesinghe- POG and the person who gave the best support was the principal Rev. Fr. Araliya Jayasundara.
Mahamaya Basketball Champs after 27 years
Mahamaya Girls College were able to win the All Island National School Games Basketball Championship, in 2022 they were under 20 All Island National School games first runner-up, in the same year were also runner-up in the Basketball Association “A” Division competition. They won a championship after 27 years. This year’s champion team comprised Chithera Samarakoon [Captain], VishmiKarunarathne [Vice Captain], Chenuli Warnakulage,Kissalie Jayapala, Anuki De Silva, Buddhika Abeykoon, Nethmi Rupasinghe,Himara Wijerathne, Hirupama Chandrasekara, Inupama Wickramasena, Dayadi Ginige. A big hand should go to coach Chamith Pushpakumra and Teacher in charge and Chamila Siriweera and the principal Sashikala Senadeera for their biggest support.
