Triposha worth over Rs.100,000 stolen from train

The Batticaloa Police arrested three persons who stole a stock of Triposha worth over Rs.1 lakh from a train carriage transporting Triposha, which was halted at the Batticaloa railway station.

Police said that this Triposha stock brought from Colombo, was stolen between November 6 and 7.

Police further said that five bags containing 150 Triposha packets each have been stolen.

According to a complaint filed by the Administrative Officer of the Batticaloa Medical Officer’s office, after conducting investigations, the suspects have been arrested.

The three suspects are residents of Kalawadi, Karuwanpankeni and Kokkadicholai in Batticaloa. The Police said that they are aged 38, 35 and 30 years and are engaged in casual labour.

Based on the information revealed during the questioning of these suspects, a part of the stolen Triposha stock has also been found.
