U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that the United States has reached an agreement with Denmark and Greenland granting Washington permanent control over Greenland’s security and other needs, at no cost to the U.S.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the arrangement would give the United States a permanent role in Greenland.
The claim has not yet been independently confirmed by Danish or Greenlandic authorities.
Denmark and Greenland have since confirmed that an agreement is expected to be signed next week, subject to parliamentary approval. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said it would preserve their sovereignty and Greenlanders’ right to self-determination. (Newswire)
