Nittambuwa Police said that 22 persons were injured in an accident when a private passenger bus collided with a container and a bowser at Bataleeya Kaju Pura on the Colombo-Kandy highway around 5 am yesterday (6) morning.
A bus travelling from Ampara to Colombo has met with this accident. It has been revealed that when a container truck coming in front of the bus collided with the back of the bus, a bowser travelling behind also collided with the back of the bus.
According to the preliminary Police investigations, it has been revealed that when the passenger bus went to overtake another vehicle, it collided with the container that was coming in front and the bowser coming from behind also collided with the passenger bus. The injured passengers have been admitted to Wathupitiwala Hospital.
A hospital spokesperson also said that the condition of the injured is not serious. Due to this accident, traffic on the Colombo-Kandy-Kandy Highway was also disrupted. Nittambuwa Police Traffic Division officers are investigating the incident.
