The Police Special Task Force (STF), keeping an eye on a WhatsApp group operating near Mankulam called ‘Bad Boy’ engaged in exchanging photos and videos of violent acts, arrested two activists of that WhatsApp group and handed them over to the Mankulam Police day before yesterday (06). Two youths, aged 20 and 22, who are residents of Mankulam Neethiparam, have been arrested by STF officers of the Mankulam camp.
Investigations have revealed that these two youths do not have permanent jobs and they engage in labour work for hire and that they have been gathering youths for this group. The police said that videos and photos related to acts of violence were being exchanged in this WhatsApp group and photographs of youths carrying swords and poles were also being exchanged. The Special Task Force had arrested these two suspects due to a serious suspicion that these people are working with the aim of organizing various sword gangs in Jaffna. The police said that accordingly, investigations are being carried out regarding these youths.
