Two security officers attached to the Chilaw District General Hospital were injured last night (14) when three guards were attacked by two individuals attempting to forcibly enter the premises, it was reported.
According to Ada Derana, hospital officials said one of the suspects had arrived under the influence of alcohol with another person and tried to gain entry to visit a patient receiving residential treatment.
When security staff intervened to prevent them, the assault took place. The injured officers are currently receiving treatment at the same hospital.
Following a complaint lodged by hospital authorities, Chilaw Police arrested the two suspects, aged 34 and 35, both residents of Karawita.
Police confirmed that further investigations into the incident are underway. (Newswire)
