Two suspects wanted over the fatal shooting at a birthday party held at a hotel in Wattala on July 23 have been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport after being deported from India.
Police said the two suspects had allegedly fled to India illegally by boat following the killing.
They were subsequently arrested by Indian security authorities and deported to Sri Lanka from Chennai. Indian authorities had informed officers of the Criminal Investigation Department at the airport ahead of their arrival yesterday.
The suspects, aged 30 and 34, are both residents of Wattala.
After recording preliminary statements, Airport CID officers handed the suspects over to the Western Province North Crime Division for further investigations. (Newswire)
