United Democratic Voice Party Leader Ranjan Ramanayake stated on the night of the 8th in Kalutara that, “Our Party does not provide an open saloon door for any thief to walk through, but rather a filter that selects incorruptible individuals.” He made these remarks at a public rally held on Friday (8) in Kalutara North, organised in support of the Party Candidates contesting from the Kalutara District for the Parliamentary elections.
Continuing his speech, Ramanayake criticised the destruction caused by those in power over the past 5 years and condemned the leaders who governed the country for 76 years, ultimately leading it to bankruptcy. He highlighted how other nations, once under British rule, have advanced, surpassing Sri Lanka.
Referring to a statement by former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Ramanayake said, “Ranil claimed he couldn’t do anything because the people elected the members in Parliament, but we don’t even nominate such individuals from our Party.” He emphasised that thieves in Parliament entered through the Nominations of their respective Parties.
The leadership for Kalutara District, he said, is given to renowned cricketer Tilakaratne Dilshan, who is person with high level of integrity. He reminded supporters that, if there is any wrongdoing by their members, they would be the first to take them to Court, urging voters to send at least 3 Representatives from their Party, from Kalutara to Parliament.
“During my speech in Galle today, the power supply was cut—such is the fear they have of us,” he added, urging the public to elect good citizens to Parliament for the next 5 years.
