The United Nations Global Astrologer’s Conference and Award Ceremony organised by the United Nations Federation of International Astro (UNFIA) was held at the BMICH, Colombo recently.
The United Nations Federation of International Astro (UNFIA) for the first time organised this international Seminar and Awards ceremony in Sri Lanka, to felicitate senior personalities in the field and create a knowledge sharing platform for experts.
UNFIA President Dr. Ranjith Opatha spearheaded efforts to organise the event. Head of the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies at Sri Jayewardenepura University Ven. Prof. Medagoda Abhayathissa Nayaka Thera presided over the event and the Chief Guest was the former High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Seychelles Tikiri Herath Gunathilaka.
In this event, which was attended by many veteran foreign astrologers, the All India Astrological Research Institute awarded degrees in Astrology to nearly a 100 people who studied for bachelors and doctoral degrees in astrology. It is also special in that it is a graduation ceremony where the largest number of students has been awarded degrees in Astrology in Sri Lanka.
A book titled Home Stories written by Dr. Shalini Guggnani, a veteran architect and a graduate of geology in India, was translated into Sinhala by Ranjith Opatha and his student Ven. Weliaragoda Rahula Thera under and was released at the event. Apart from this, all the astrologers representing foreign countries who participated in this event were also appreciated.
Maha Sangha, Chairman of All India Astrological Research Institute Giridhari Grover and astrologers, Head of Press, Information and Culture at Indian High Commission in Colombo Navya Singla and a group of world renowned scholars participated in this event.
