The head of the Department of Bio-systems Technology of the Faculty of Technology of the University of Ruhuna (UoR) Dr. Thissa Karunarathne and other senior lecturers who met with representatives from the industry in Colombo recently were requested to improve the attitudes, academic enthusiasm and produce a more industry oriented graduate.

Among the other key requirements the industry wanted improved were career guidance, work-life balance, interpersonal skills, soft skills and financial management.
The Department of Bio-systems Technology of the Faculty of Technology of the University of Ruhuna offers a Bachelor of Bio-systems Technology [Honours] degree with focus on producing technologists with the knowledge and technical expertise in Agricultural Bio-system Technology, Medical Technology,
Industrial Bio-system Technology, Marine and Aqua Technology, Energy and Environment Technology, Food Bio technology and Bio-process technology. The present annual student intake for the degree programme is around 100.
