Nongbueh Co ltd, a leading Korean fertilizer manufacturing company is planning to establish a wide-ranging fertilizer manufactory with an investment of US$ 4.5 million. The plan of the initiative was disclosed by a group of officials led by the Chairman of the respective company in a Feasibility Research Tour made by them in Southern Province (SP) recently.
Some Sri Lankan farmers have already obtained satisfactory harvesting results by using a kind of liquid fertilizer produced by Nongbueh Co in tea and other plantations. The land owners claimed that their harvests have been increased by 30 percent to 35 percent by using the said fertilizer.
The team including Chairman Song Jae ho, Director An Jinseaok and the said company’s Sri Lankan representatives Nuwan Jayasekara and Buddhika Hewage participated in the feasibility research tour and they had a meeting with tea cultivator land owners of the region.
Sri Lanka Tea Research Board also has approved that the corresponding liquid fertilizer is suitable for the tea lands of the country.
The Korean Representatives made an inspection tour at Andaradeniya Tea Factory in Neluwa where they had a discussion with Andaradeniya Group of Companies Chairman Dr. W. Jinadasa. Dr. Junadasa also stated that the harvest of the tea small holders who supply green leaves to his factory had also been improved.
Nuwan Jayasekara also affirmed that the paddy cultivators in Ampara, Moneragala and Pelawatta and the vegetable growers in Nuwara-Eliya also have been able to increase their harvests by using the Korean Liquid fertilizer.
The Chairman of Nongbueh Co ltd who was satisfied with the activities of the tea factories and manuring processes of tea lands assured that they would soon establish a large-scale fertilizer manufactory in which they hope to invest Rs. 4.5 million US dollars in Sri Lanka either in Matara or Galle district.
