The United States Embassy in Sri Lanka has reminded nonimmigrant visa applicants to ensure they have sufficient financial resources to cover their expenses during travel to the United States, including unexpected travel disruptions and medical emergencies.
In a statement, the Embassy advised individuals planning to travel to the US to be financially prepared and provide supporting evidence during their visa interviews.
Applicants have been encouraged to present documentation demonstrating their ability to support themselves financially and showing that they are unlikely to become a public charge after entering the United States.
The Embassy emphasized that travellers should be prepared to meet their own expenses throughout their stay, including costs arising from unforeseen circumstances.
Meanwhile, the Embassy also issued a warning against submitting false documents during the visa application process.
It stressed that presenting fraudulent documents constitutes visa fraud and could result in visa disqualification and even permanent ineligibility to obtain a US visa.
The reminder is aimed at ensuring that prospective travellers understand the financial preparedness and documentation expectations associated with the US nonimmigrant visa application process. (Newswire)
