Sri Lanka’s Rumesha Tharanga will compete in the men’s javelin throw at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest tonight.
The event is scheduled to begin at 9:40 p.m. Sri Lanka time.
Tharanga enters the competition as the world No. 1, having recorded a world-leading throw of 92.62 metres this year. He also won this season’s Diamond League javelin title.
Germany’s Julian Weber is expected to be among his main challengers, while Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan, Grenada’s Anderson Peters and Trinidad and Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott are also set to compete.
The winner of the event will receive USD 150,000 in prize money. (Newswire)
