The University of Sri Jayawardenapura (USJ) clinched the Women’s title at the 2022 Inter-University Tennis Tournament, held at the Queens Courts in Colombo. A total of eight government universities participated in this tournament, which was conducted by the Sri Lanka University Sports Association.
This was the first time that the University of Sri Jayawardenapura had won a major title in a Women’s Tennis championship in their history. Meanwhile, the University of Colombo emerged runners-up while the University of Moratuwa secured third place in this tournament.
The University of Sri Jayewardenapura Women’s Tennis Team won all three-group stage matches against the University of Colombo, University of Peradeniya, and Sabaragamuwa University before progressing to the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals, the University of Sri Jayawardenepura beat the University of Kelaniya 3-0 and advanced into the final.
