Vidyartha – Sylvestrian clash for Nillegoda – Banda Trophy

Vidyartha College who were thrashed in the last outing by St. Peter’s College will scrum down with St. Sylvester’s College . The rugby encounter will take place on the 5th of August at the Bogambara Stadium, kick off is at 4 pm and they treat this as their big match in rugby. In the year 2010 a trophy was introduced, in memory of two past principals Bertie Nillegoda and P.M.L. Banda. Today both schools give a big hand for the game of rugby with limited facilities.

KDHA Hockey tourney

Kandy District Hockey Association inter club league tournament is expected to start from 8th of August at the Peradeniya Campus grounds, where eleven teams are expected to take part. KDHA President R. Maheswaran, Secretary M. Ashraff and the rest of the committee are going all out to make the event a grand one and the players are sure to give of their best. All in all it should be a good interesting tournamentwhere Kandy has some top class hockey players at club level.

CP men’s and women’s hockey champs

Hockey, Men’s and Women’s hockey players have made Central Province proud, both teams did well to win the championship at the 47th National Sports Festival held at Police Park Colombo. Damika Ranasinghe and K.L.S. Kumari were the best players in the men’s and women’s event.
