Villages said that no remedial action has been taken by the authorities even though numerous complaints had been made to the Ambalanthota Divisional Secretariat, Ambalanthota Pradeshiya Sabha and the Irrigation Engineers Office regarding the impending damage to the Ambalanthota – Ridiyagama Road due to the erosion of the Walawa river bank.
They said that the river bank was just a few feet away from the road near the Bolana North junction as the river bank continues to erode away at a rapid rate.
