The Police have used water cannons to disperse a group of protesters at the Polduwa Junction in Battaramulla today (04).
The protest was carried out by the women’s wing of the National People’s Power (NPP) near the Parliamentary Roundabout yesterday morning.
The NPP’s women’s wing staged the protest over several of their demands, including the rising cost of living, the tax burden imposed on the people and other issues in the country.
Riot police had resorted to using water cannons as the protesters had attempted to march towards the Parliament along the Parliament Road.
